Czech Honorary Consul in Chennai attended COVID-19 GoTN Stakeholders Meeting with the Consulates in Chennai

Mr. Ar Rm Arun, Honorary Consul of the Czech Republic in Chennai attended the COVID-19 Stakeholders meeting with the Consulates held in Hotel Leela Palace, Chennai on Mar 12, 2020. This program was organized by the Health & Family Welfare Department, Government of Tamil Nadu after the WHO declared the novel Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) is a Public Health Emergency of International Concern.

All Consul Generals, Deputy High Commissioners, Honorary Consuls, United Nations Organisations and key representatives from the Foreigner Regional Registration Office, Regional Passport Office, Airports Authority of India, Southern Railway had attended the Prevention of Novel Corona Virus program.

Dr. C. Vijay Bhaskar, Hon’ble Minister for Health & Family Welfare, Government of Tamil Nadu had presided over the meeting joined by Mr. K. Shanmugam, IAS - Chief Secretary, Government of Tamil Nadu and Dr. Beela Rajesh, IAS – Secretary, Health & Family Welfare Department, Government of Tamil had briefed all audience about the precautionary measures to be taken care to prevent from the vast spreading novel Corona Virus.

Dr. Beela Rajesh earlier briefed about COVID-19 Symptoms, its morbidity & mortality, situation report across the world & the status in India and the Preventive Measures & disinfection practices to be followed. Also conveyed about the surveillance & Screening systems setup at the International Airport and in the Harbour in Chennai. A 24 Hours Control Room has been set-up to monitor all activities across the State of Tamil Nadu.

The State Government had urged all the Consulates, Deputy High Commissions & Honorary Consulates in Chennai, Tamil Nadu to keep track of any of their respective foreign nationals visiting Tamil Nadu and to monitor for their safe keeping at all times and incase of any assistance would be required to approach the government authorities for necessary support.
