Honorary Consuls of the Czech Republic Video Conference with His Excellency Ambassador Milan Hovorka

Mr. Ar Rm Arun, Honorary Consul of the Czech Republic in Chennai attended the Honorary Consuls video conference with his Excellency Ambassador Milan Hovorka and senior Officials of the Czech Embassy, New Delhi on Thursday May 21, 2020.

The meeting was held to discuss and get to know about the current Pandemic situation in India, Nepal & Sri Lanka and also to know what more can be done to promote bilateral and regional partnerships in various fields. Mr. Arun in his address appreciated the Ambassador for scheduling this video conference and conveyed his regards to all during these challenging times.

Mr. Arun briefed about the present situation and the preventive measures being taken by the Governments of Tamil Nadu & the Union Territory of Puducherry. With the Lockdown now slowly easing, businesses are starting to open and are being mandated to follow the required SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) laid out by the Central & State Governments.

Mr. Arun briefed about the Czech Nationals based in Tamil Nadu & Puducherry who’s travel back to the Czech Republic was well coordinated by the Chennai Honorary Consulate. Mr. Arun briefed about the Surgical Masks quotations that were collated within very short time and presented to the Czech Republic officials. In the same way, information about Medical Equipment made by the Czech Republic was also shared with the said Departments of the Government of Tamil Nadu and the Government of Puducherry. Friendship performances by Czech Artists were also hosted on our Website so that this information would be widely known.

While agreeing with Ambassador that uncertainty remains with the duration of pandemic and its most needed vaccines, we look forward to things getting back to normal. Several proposals have been submitted to the Embassy to further engagement between Tamil Nadu & Puducherry with the Czech Republic and we look forward to progressing on these as the situation improves and the Embassy is ready.

The Ambassador while agreeing with Mr. Arun's comments, appreciated tremendous efforts made by all Honorary Consuls to assist Czech Citizens and looked forward to improving times ahead.
