United Nations’ General Assembly elects The Czech Republic to the seat on the Human Rights Council

The Czech Republic has officially replaced Russian Federation in the United Nations’ Human Rights Council based in Geneva. The Czech Republic was the only candidate for the seat left vacant when the General Assembly voted. During the secret ballot at the 76th session of the 71st plenary meeting of the UN General Assembly in New York on 10th May 2022, the Czech Republic received very strong mandate when 157 countries voted in favor and only 23 abstained. No country was against the Czechia's candidature.
