74th Independence Day Celebration at Tamil Nadu & Puducherry

The Indian Nation celebrated its 74th Independence Day on Saturday Aug 15, 2020.

The Independence Day celebrations were organized at St. George’s Fort, Secretariat of Tamil Nadu. Chief Minister Thiru. Edappadi Palanisamy hoisted the Tricolor National Flag in the Secretariat, earlier he accepted the Guard of Honour by the Police team.

Thiru. K. Shanmugam, Chief Secretary, Tamil Nadu DGP, Chennai Police Commissioner & Additional DGP (Law & Order) were also present during the event.

Thiru. Banwarilal Purohit, Hon’ble Governor of TN hoisted the National Flag at the Raj Bhavan, Chennai

After delivering the Independence Day address, Chief Minister Thiru. Edappadi Palanisamy honored the award recipients with gallantry awards and certificate of recognition for the awardees. He also distributed the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister’s Special award, Chief Minister’s Best Practices award & certificate of appreciation.

Earlier the Government of Tamil Nadu had made an appeal to the public, not to attend the celebrations owing to the Pandemic situation.

Thiru. Banwarilal Purohit, Hon’ble Governor of Tamil Nadu hoisted the National Flag at the Raj Bhavan, Chennai. Thiru. Anandrao V. Patil, IAS, Secretary to Governor, Senior Officials and Staff of Raj Bhavan were also present.

Puducherry Chief Minister Thiru. V. Narayanasamy unfurled the National Flag at Uppalam in the Union territory. He inspected a guard of honour presented by the Puducherry Armed Police and took salute of march past by various wings of Police, Fire service and Home guard personnel.

The National Flag was also unfurled in Puducherry Legislative Assemby by the Chief Minister in presence of Speaker Thiru. V. P. Sivakozhunthu, Ministers, MLAs, Officials and others.

Lt. Governor Kiran Bedi hoisted the tri-color atop of the Raj Nivas & it’s Officials participated in the function to mark the Independence Day.
