Tamil Nadu Government announces fresh restrictions to curb Covid

The Tamil Nadu government has announced fresh restrictions from 4 am on May 6th to May 20, 2021 to contain Covid-19 spread.

All Government and Private Offices would be allowed to function with a maximum of 50% employees. It is also restricted on travel in Train, Government & Private Buses, Metro Trains and Taxis with only 50% of their respective capacities.

Vegetable and provision shops located in Commercial complexes have to remain closed. Except for non air-conditioned standalone vegetable and grocery stores, all other shops would not be allowed to be function. Only 50% customers are to be allowed in provision and grocery shops, which would be permitted to function only till 12 noon.

Essential item shops, medical shops and milk depots can function as usual. Petrol, diesel and LPG supply would continue uninterrupted.

Restaurants can sell only takeaways while tea shops can remain open only till 12 noon, Customers cannot be allowed to use the seating in restaurants and tea shops.

Markets and shops selling fish, chicken and other meat would be allowed only on week days between 6 am & 12 noon, to remain shut on Saturdays and Sundays.

Spas, Gyms, Malls, Theatres and Recreational centres to remain shut. Spas in rural areas should also remain closed. All kinds of social, political, sports, educational, entertainment have been banned in indoor auditoriums during this period.

Continuous process industries and industries manufacturing essential commodities, besides telecom companies, can continue to operate during the night curfew.

The Government also extended the Night curfew from 10pm to 4am and Sunday lockdowns until further Orders.
