Tamil Nadu Government announces total Lockdown to curb Covid-19

The Tamil Nadu government has announced complete lockdown across the State from 4 am on May 10th to May 24, 2021 to contain Covid-19 spread.

International Air travel will continue to be prohibited. e-Registration will continue to be implemented to monitor those coming from abroad and other States via Air and Train.

Inter and Intra-district publie & private transport, rental taxis, autos will be disallowed. People carrying documents to prove their travel for marriages, deaths, job interviews and hospitals will be allowed.

All shops, except provision & grocery stores and meat stalls, would remain closed. Non air-conditioned provision & grocery stores and meat stalls can remain open till 12 noon with 50% Customers.

Except for those involved in food delivery, other e-commerce companies would not be allowed to function. Restaurants and eateries are allowed to remain open only for takeaways. Tea shops can remain open only till 12 noon.

All social, political, sports, recreational, educational and cultural events would not be allowed to be held in either indoor spaces or outdoor. Beauty parlours, salons and spas would remain closed across the State.

Except for essential departments such as offices in the Secretariat, Health, Revenue, Police, Fire, District Administration, drinking water & electricity, no other Government Offices would function.

All places of worship would remain closed. The public would not be allowed on beaches and tourist hubs such as the Nilgiris and Kodaikanal.

Except for continuous process industries, all private offices, including IT & ITES, would remain closed. They can work from home.

Courts can function, in-situ construction activites is also allowed. Petrol & Diesel bunks would continue to remain operational. Banks, ATMs and Bank-related transport can also function with 50% employees.
