Government of Tamil Nadu extends Lockdown till Aug 31, 2020 for COVID-19

The Government of Tamil Nadu (GoTN) had announced the extension of general Lockdown till Aug 31, 2020. The Lockdown extension is done based on views expressed by the District Collectors, Public Health Experts & Senior Ministers of GoTN. The intense lockdown will also be implemented on all Sundays of August with no relaxations across the State of Tamil Nadu.

Public worship is allowed in small Temples, Churches, Mosques that earn annual income of less than Rs.10,000. Prior permission from the concerned District Collectors’ is to be obtained and to follow the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) issued earlier.

All Industries, IT & ITES, Private Offices, Export-oriented Units are permitted to operate with 75% strength. Delivery of goods by e-Commerce firms including essential and non-essential items are permitted from Aug 1st.

Restaurants with dine-in facility, air-conditioners should not be switched On and Tea-shops will be permitted to function with 50% seating capacity from 6am to 7pm. Take away service from Restaurants is allowed between 6am and 9pm.

Grocery Stores, Vegetable Shops are permitted to open between 6am and 7pm, all other Shops are permitted to open between 10am and 7pm.

GoTN had decided to continue restrictions to Tourist locations, inter-state buses, suburban & metro trains, theatres, malls, gyms, swimming pools until Aug 31, 2020. Schools, Colleges, Training and Coaching Institutions are not permitted, however the Institutions shall continue to conduct Online Classes.

The ban on International flights will remain in place, except for the Operations permitted by Central Government.

Obtaining e-Passes is compulsory to travel inter-district as well as travel to other States and to travel from other States to Tamil Nadu.
