Tamil Nadu Government extends COVID-19 lockdown till Dec 31, 2020

Tamil Nadu Government has announced an extension of the general COVID-19 lockdown till midnight of Dec 31, 2020 subject to certain relaxations.

Reopening of Final year undergraduate classes in Colleges & Universities to start from Dec 7th, hostels are also allowed to permit students.

Also Medical & allied health Science Colleges will reopen for undergraduate and post graduate courses from Dec 7th. Students getting admission for the current academic 2020-21 are allowed from Feb 1, 2021.

The existing system of E-registration for those coming to Tamil Nadu from States other than Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Union Territory of Puducherry would continue.

Exhibition halls will be allowed to function only for business to business purposes after following SOP.

Indoor social, political and religious congregations allowed subject to 50 per cent seating capacity and not exceeding 200 persons from Dec 1st to Dec 31st. Permission from the District Collectors and from Greater Chennai Police (for Chennai meetings) are necessary.

Marina and other beaches will be open for public from Dec 14th.

Swimming pools for sports training purposes will be allowed to function following standard operating procedures (SOP).
