Tamil Nadu Government extends Lockdown till Sep 30, 2020 for COVID-19

The Government of Tamil Nadu (GoTN) had announced the extension of general Lockdown till Sep 30, 2020 issuing a fresh guidelines to re-open all places of Worship, Malls, Hotels, Clubs and Resorts from Sep 1, 2020.

Intra-district Operation of Public Transport, both public and Private buses will be permitted within districts across the State, including Chennai from Sep 1st. People can travel across Tamil Nadu without e-Pass, but International Travellers arriving in flights, as well as those entering the State in private vehicles and trains would be required to apply for the e-Pass.

All the places of Worship in Tamil Nadu is to be opened for public from Sep 1st, the Government will be preparing separate operating procedures on the number of devotees to be allowed at a time.

As per the guidelines of Ministry of Home Affairs, operations of Chennai Metro Rail will be started on Sep 7th. Sub-Urban Trains are not permitted to operate.

All Industries as well as IT/ITeS Sector are permitted to have their operations with 100% Employees, also the State Govt. Offices will function with 100% employees from Sep 1st. All Shopping malls, large showrooms and shops of all sizes can function with 100% employees.

Tea shops, Restaurants and all types of shops can remain open till 8pm on all days, take-aways from Restaurants & teashops can remain open till 9pm.

Number of Domestic flights landing at Chennai Airport per day will be doubled to 50 from the present landing of 25 Flights. Inter-State passenger trains services will continue to run on permitted routes, but passenger trains within the State will not be permitted to operate until Sep 15th and considering the situation, a decision to operate train services will be taken after Sep 15th.

A new Protocol for quarantine and testing will be introduced for both domestic and International Air passengers, as well as those coming by train from other States.

Schools, Colleges, Research Centres, all types of Educational Institutions, Theatres, Swimming Pools and amusement parks will remain closed till Sep 30th. Public will not be allowed to Large auditoriums, convention halls, beaches, museums, zoos and tourist places.
