Tamil Nadu Government extends Lockdown till Jul 5th with some more relaxations

The Tamil Nadu government has extended the lockdown till Jul 5, 2021 with some more relaxations. The Government continues to classify the districts into three categories, 11 districts in the west & central region - Coimbatore, Nilgris, Tiruppur, Erode, Salem, Karur, Namakkal, Thanjavur, Tiruvarur, Nagapattinam and Mayiladuthurai. In 23 other districts, more services and establishments are permitted to operate for extended hours. Chennai, Thiruvallur, Kancheepuram & Chengalpet get additional relaxations along with those extended to the 23 districts.

The relaxations norms include re-opening places of worships and malls in four districts and resumption of inter & intradistrict public transport (with 50% occupancy) in 23 other districts.

Places of worship will be allowed in Chennai, Kancheepuram, Thiruvallur & Chengalpet districts, but archanas, festivals and consecration ceremonies are not allowed.

All private establishments shall be allowed with 100% workforce.

All textile shops, jewellery stors, shopping complex/malls shall function between 9am and 7pm without air-conditioning, with only 50% of the Customers. Only takeaway services will be allowed in the restaurants. Theatres and game centres in commercial malls will not be permitted.

Sports training academies and outdoor events will be allowed between 6am & 9pm without spectators. Walking will be allowed in all beaches between 5am & 9am.

Additional relaxations to category II & III districts, includes permission to Government Offices, Banks, Insurance Companies & ATM Services, SEBI & Capital and Debt market services and industries to function with 100% workforce.

IT/ITES, housing finance operations and non-banking financial institutions and micro-finance institutions shall operate with 50% workforce. Gyms, Yoga institutions will be permitted without air-conditioning facilities with 50% visitors in the scheduled timings.

Museums, archaeological monuments and excavation sites will be kept open between 10am and 5pm. Those who wish to travel within districts listed under category I need to apply for e-Registration from the concerned District Collector thru online.
