Tamil Nadu Government extends Lockdown with more relaxations till Jun 21, 2021

The Tamil Nadu government has extended the total lockdown by another week ending 6pm on Jun 21, 2021 with further relaxations starting Jun 14th in most of the districts including Chennai, where the Covid caseload is on a decline.

The relaxations announced earlier for all districts will continue, only fewer relaxations are granted to the 11 districts as the Covid-19 cases are still high in Coimbatore, The Nilgiris, Tirupur, Erode, Salem, Karur, Namakkal, Thanjavur, Thiruvarur, Nagapattinam & Mayiladuthurai.

Administrative works relating to admission of Students will be allowed in Schools, Colleges and Universities.

Export units and vendor units can continue with 50% workforce following SOPs. The rest of the Industries will also be allowed with 33% workforce. The workers were allowed to travel in four-wheelers and from Jun 14th, workers of the factories can reach their work places by two-wheelers with e-Registration and by showing their Office Identity cards.

IT/ITES Companies have been directed to work with only 20% workforce or with a maximum of 10 employees. Housing finance companies, non-banking financial companies and all Insurance corporations are allowed with 33% workforce.

Beauty parlours, salons, spas can function without airconditioners with only 50% of Customers between 6am and 5pm. Government parks & other parks controlled by local bodies will be opened from 6am to 9am only for walking exercise.

Agriculture machinery & pump set repair shops will be allowed between 9am and 5pm. Pottery and handicraft shops will be allowed between 6am and 5pm.

Optical Shops & service centres, mixer, grinder and television repair & service centres, mobile & accessories shops and shops selling construction material and home appliances are permitted between 9am and 2pm.

The State Government also extended certain relaxations in the 11 districts, Private Security services, agencies for maintenance and upkeep of Office, including housekeeping in residential complexes are permitted with e-Registration.

Electricians, Plumbers, Motor technicians, Computer technicians, carpenters and other self-employed persons can work between 9am and 5pm with e-Registration. But shops will not be allowed to open.

Cycle and two-wheeler repair shops, agrriculture machineries & pump set repair shops, optical shops and service centres will be allowed to operate between 9am and 2pm. Pottery and handicraft shops will be allowed between 6am and 5pm.

Export units and vendor units will be permitted to function with 25% workforce following SOPs. Passengers with e-Registration will be permitted in rental vehicles, taxis and autos. Three passengers in Taxis and two passengers in Autos will only be permitted.

As per the government order, shops and enterprises have been ordered to place hand sanitizers with dispensers at the entrance of the shops, while also conducting thermal screening. The shops are restricted from using air conditioners while in operation and should strictly adhere to social distancing norms. The management should ensure the staff and customers wear masks compulsorily.
