Considering the steady increase of COVID-19 cases in the State, the Government of Tamil Nadu (GoTN) has extended the Corona Virus related Lockdown till Jul 31, 2020. Intense lockdown in Greater Chennai Police limits including Chengalpet, Kanchipuram & Thiruvallur Districts as well as Madurai District will continue till Jul 5, 2020. The total Lockdown will also be enforced on all Sundays of July.
GoTN had decided to continue restrictions to Tourist locations, inter-state buses, local & metro trains, theatres, malls, gyms, swimming pools, schools and colleges until Jul 31, 2020. Also informed that the relaxations will be lifted step by step based on the decrease of the Corona Virus spread. Inter-district buses are temporarily suspended from Jul 1st to Jul 15, 2020. Obtaining e-Passes is compulsory to travel inter-district as well as travel to other States and to travel from other States to Tamil Nadu.
The State Government also decided to reopen places of worships in rural areas except in containment zones from Jul 1st and will also be allowed to open in Chengalpet, Kanchipuram, Thiruvallur and Madurai from Jul 6th. Public worship will be allowed in Temples, Churches & Mosques that earn annual income of less than Rs.10,000.
Following activities are to be allowed in all areas across the State except in areas under the jurisdiction of Greater Chennai Police, containment areas and in all rural areas of Chengalpet, Kanchipuram, Thiruvallur and Madurai Districts from Jul 6, 2020 : all Industries, IT & ITES, Private Offices are permitted to operate with 100% strength. All showrooms and larger Shops (including textiles & jewellery) except in shopping malls are permitted to operate with 50% strength & without air-conditioning. Restaurants and Tea-shops will also be permitted to function with 50% seating capacity.
Grocery Stores, Vegetable Shops and other essential shops will remain open between 6am and 8pm.
